The former wife of a Hamas member is now a radiant Christian after a dramatic dream in which Jesus appeared to her.
“You are my daughter; don’t be afraid,” he told Juman al Qawasmi after she prayed for God to reveal himself to her. “If you exist, I want to know you…to meet you,” she pleaded.
I felt peace for the first time
Her desperate prayer came on the night her neighbour’s house was bombed during the 2014 Gaza conflict after the Israeli Defence Force had called to warn of the impending attack, allowing time to escape.
“I felt peace for the first time,” she told Raj Nair in an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN), explaining “Islam doesn’t give you peace. It’s as if you can never do enough.”
Exuding an undisguised joy for what Jesus has done in her life, she explained how, since 2012, she began to question a faith steeped in so much violence. “But you are not allowed to ask questions in Islam” she said.
Born into hatred
Born in Qatar, her father was a Hamas founder and she was married for many years to a member of the group.
“I was raised to hate Israel and the Jewish people as well as Christians. I even voted for Hamas in 2007 when they first took control of Gaza. I just want to say sorry. They (Hamas) don’t want to have peace. They just want to kill and stay in control,”
she said, adding that all the money given to rebuild Gaza after previous conflicts has simply been siphoned off for constructing an underground city connected by tunnels. Then came that miraculous dream! She had never heard Yeshua’s (Jesus) name before. Muslims call Jesus ‘Isa’.
“No-one told me about him. It’s a beautiful name; he is beautiful! And I had never met Christians before.”
She discovered more through an Egyptian internet site and was amazed to learn that Jesus taught his disciples to love their enemies.
Thousands of Muslims are finding Jesus
“And I learnt that thousands of Muslims are seeing Jesus in their dreams. I do believe Jesus loves the Muslims,” she added, pleading with viewers to “cast your eyes on Jesus; he is the way!”
Though still proud to be a Palestinian citizen, she evidently questions their right to the land, saying: “Even in the Qu’ran Palestine is never mentioned.”
